In the course of the new alliance, the founding engine became NXTGN
The network behind NXTGN was formed in 2023, but the history of the institutions involved in the merger goes back several years. This also applies to the Gründermotor Landesinitiative and Gründermotor GmbH, which are now known under their new names, NXTGN Landesinitiative and NXTGN GmbH.
July 2024
Our Startup Factory application has moved on to the next round, the concept phase. As part of this process, we are adopting a new name as a group: NXTGN. From now on, the Gründermotor Landesinitiative and Gründermotor GmbH will also bear the new name NXTGN.

September 2023
Introducing our new alliance! Together with strong partners from science and industry, we are now starting to build our joint venture. Together, we will submit a project outline in April 2024 for the Lighthouse competition submit.
The common goal of the new alliance is to promote and network start-ups, science and business for a sustainable and innovative next generation of SMEs.
June 2023
The start-up engine expands! With "Mätch VC", we have now launched a venture capital fund in which Gründermotor also holds shares. This expands the scope of Gründermotor through Mätch VC's mission to support technology start-ups in the fields of industrial B2B, sustainable change and climate tech. Mätch VC was created out of the motivation to offer financing to the most promising start-up teams from Gründermotor.

In order to better fulfil the growth of Gründermotor and our goal of establishing an innovation and start-up platform with European appeal, the underlying structure of Gründermotor is also changing: the private side of Gründermotor is establishing an independent limited company with a statute oriented towards the common good and without any commercial interests of its own, and is breaking away from Pioniergeist.
October 2021
The Startup Programme ASAP BW as well as other exchange and further training formats for educators will also become part of the Gründermotor initiative. A cooperation agreement is signed between Gründermotor GmbH & Co. KG, the Institute for Entrepreneurship at the University of Stuttgart and the Stuttgart Media University. This co-operation turns the Gründermotor into a public-private partnership!

In conjunction with the "Start-up BW"The state of Baden-Württemberg is organising the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research The "Gründermotor Entrepreneurship Education" project group was established at the University of Stuttgart. Since then, under the leadership of Dr Eric Heintze, this group has been working on connecting universities and colleges to the Gründermotor initiative, training start-up coaches and accompanying entrepreneurial research.
February 2018
Baden-Württemberg's Minister President Kretschmann provides the initial impetus for the launch of the Gründermotor initiative. The idea is supported by Dr Helmut Schelling, founder ofVector Informatikand founder of theVector Foundation and together with Adrian Thoma, founder of the Stuttgart Venture Builder & Startup HubPioneering spirit realised as a general contractor. Gründermotor is now financed by many other business partners in order to establish a dynamic start-up scene in Baden-Württemberg.
