Popcorn flooring - CornFloor
Our idea is to use popcorn to produce a sustainable floor that is heat and sound insulating thanks to its natural properties. By popping the maize, a material with a low density is created and the volume is increased enormously. The floor can therefore be sold at a lower price than standard floor coverings. Another advantage over conventional parquet and cork flooring is the cultivation. The oak used for parquet flooring takes 180 years to grow. Cork grows on the tree within 9-10 years. Corn, on the other hand, can significantly undercut this, as it only needs 5 months to grow. The floor is to be produced regionally here in Germany, and the corn is also to be bought and processed by local farmers. The popcorn floor not only has personal or regional advantages, but also protects the environment and conserves resources.
