Since its foundation in 2018, the Academic Seed Accelerator Programme (ASAP BW) has become a cornerstone of Baden-Württemberg's start-up scene. Here, university-affiliated teams have the opportunity to present their business ideas to a broad audience and an expert jury. This year's final was streamed live via an event platform and on YouTube.
Presenters Sebastian Demuth and Christian Veit from the Spätzle Valley Startup Podcast hosted the programme for the third time. Between the presentations, they had the opportunity to interview founders such as Theresa Schulz from Nordesign and Johannes Lutz from Duschbrocken, who provided inspiring insights into their own start-ups.
The jury, consisting of Nils Bachmann, Dr Birgit Stelzer, Marion Wagner, Tobias Dürr and Junior Professor Dr Theresa Veer, had the difficult task of selecting the winners. In addition to the overall winner, Tabularis.AI, other outstanding teams were honoured:
Business Model Award: This went to the "Brifle" team from the University of Stuttgart, which is developing a central digital mailbox with integrated AI and cryptography functions to standardise and speed up official communication.
Innovation Award: Peri Space" from the University of Stuttgart won the award. The team is working on cost-effective solutions for the removal of hazardous space debris.
Impact Award: "FightTheNight" from Ulm University of Applied Sciences was honoured for its battery-free safety light, which contributes to safety at night.
Best Pitch Award: This went to "Ethitek" from the HfT Stuttgart, which helps care facilities to integrate technical support into their everyday life in a sustainable way.
Viewers also had the opportunity to cast their votes. The "Audience Darling" was awarded to "Nona.AI", a team of students who want to increase customer satisfaction and collect data with their web-based AI chatbot.
The success of the ASAP BW Final #11 once again demonstrates the enormous potential and diversity of innovations that are being created in Baden-Württemberg. The award winners have proven that their ideas and projects can not only convince the jury, but also the audience.
